keep a lantern lit (pt.1…split archives)
to fight
to yield
to hold upright
and hammer upon without mercy, without fate
raised voices can not mistake the way these bones break
there is no silent gun
the target is beyond the sight
trying to hide behind a bloody white rag
hold your fire
let the heart beat it out of you darlin
limp from eternity
keep a lantern lit
this poem hunts itself into extinction
nothing is safe none perhaps the rabbits in their hole stand any chance at all
a foolish sense and fire striking near stone
what confronts us will be the very reason we have jes done
what we have indeed done
secrets that were never secrets to begin with
this poem is a rabid savage calling out the jackal
without any idea why and only meat in the hands.
the slightest of doubt
and here we are sitting at the bar
thinking out loud
aren’t we all so hungry
there is plenty of loneliness to be found
reaching out for the faded light
or
following her walk across the room
in need of every bit of every bite
to keep a dream fulfilled
with the fat in my teeth
sucking out the very sweat
that comes from in between the breast, the legs, the lips
the spit
the grit
right where her ass gets deep
and we settle
for yet
jes one more-
