breaking the swarm
sitting at the bar, facing the labels
eating warm greasy chips
I could fingerprint the page
there is a game on
i doan care much about it
but I am watching it
splitting my attention with glances at the backs of the bottles in the mirror
keeping an eye out
for anything deadly going on behind me
there has been nothing of the such
everyone is breathing
I can tell by the broiling spittle on...

keep a lantern lit (pt.1...split archives)
to fight
to yield
to hold upright
and hammer upon without mercy, without fate
raised voices can not mistake the way these bones break
there is no silent gun
the target is beyond the sight
trying to hide behind a bloody white rag
hold your fire
let the heart beat it out of you darlin
limp from eternity
keep a lantern lit
this poem hunts itself into extinction
nothing is safe none...

a dusk composed warbling entirety: a tentet and...
power lines run deep into the country
where folk doan hush their dogs
or feed their cats
seems to be a necessity
much like love or the lack there of.
have you ever seen the moon come up from a valley under a thunder that is the nights protest?
the crickets keep their selves hidden
but sound as if they are everywhere all at once-

an American domestic (pt. 2)
at a standstill
I have no stone steps to build
no packages to be handled
no dirt but of course this dust to shake
no rummage for sale
yet
only these few binding words
mostly for the wayside
for this part of the day
this part of a year
this part of the summer at a halt
no par to care a damn thing of
it is baseball season
50 games to the pennant
it has come to this
with a wise lemon...

in the end there is rib without skin
the jackal are in my yard again
cock out
ass up
hovering over any hole
pots and pans won’t chase them off
I am going to have to eradicate the scrawny bastards
sharpen the spear
poison the peanut butter
heading out to the field wearing only a leather strap
and fur
can you imagine the look on my face
I can imagine the sheer hilarity
if
not
the brief utter fear of certainty and...
if the spirit moves you
huddled away from a soft rain
waiting out its drifting hour
giving ourselves back to another day
spring was long over and somehow the summer was in the middle of ending
yet still full of long nights having an affair with the dallying sun
lovers that must part but are holding on
as they too are waiting out the drifting hour
I speak of such easily
all of this
waiting it out
waiting for...

so it is
having a look around, standing here
life giving in to aberrant needs
under the sun is still above ground
and
here is just about anywhere
if not for a particular place
another day for umbrellas
another cold rain
sagging wires as witness.
without the edge of reason
debating clarity because of a prettier face
taking to the warmth close to her own body
the shallow bath of wet streets at...

flabbergasting the coward
I had walked over to the side of the house
to watch two crow making the most of their racket
-I applaud the erratic dedication
of all things persistent-
as
they crash in and out of the shrubbery
wings held high
thrashing the supposed barricade of their own revolt
this morning has brought a stilted defiance of season along with it
I am not licking my chops
if not for leftovers there...
